The Admiral is the classic punch bowl shape done well: a footed bowl in cut crystal with deep grooves around a heavy base, 10.5 inches across and 7.5 inches tall. It holds more than 2.5 gallons, enough for a batch plus a block of ice and a floating ring of citrus.

The set adds eight cut crystal tumblers of 9 ounces each, which double as rocks glasses the rest of the year. That is the quiet value of it: the glasses earn their shelf space long after the holidays. Viski says both the bowl and the glasses are dishwasher safe.

There is no ladle in the box, so budget for one. Skip it if you want a plain, modern bowl; the cut pattern is unapologetically old-fashioned.

If you want to open one box and be ready, this is the set. The Glenwood bowl is lead-free crystal, 12.75 inches across and 6.75 inches tall, and holds 9.43 quarts, about 2.4 gallons. It sits on a separate acacia wood base, which lifts it off the table and gives it a warmer, more modern look than cut glass.

Six lead-free crystal glasses of 14.5 ounces come with it, larger than a punch cup needs to be, along with a 13 inch ladle. The glasses and ladle go in the dishwasher. Wipe the wooden base with a soft cloth.

The ladle is BPA-free plastic, which is the weak point in an otherwise good set. Swap it for the Rösle below if you want the whole thing to feel as good as it looks. Skip it if you need more than six cups without buying extras.
