Red Land Cotton is the Yeager family farm in Moulton, Alabama, which has grown cotton since 1983 and began making sheets from it in 2016. The listing is explicit: from the seed in the ground to the final stitch, every piece is made in the USA, hand-cut and sewn in the southern US.
These are not high thread count sheets and do not pretend to be. The fabric is about 140 threads per inch of thick, single-ply long-staple yarn, modeled on 1920s bedding. It feels crisp and substantial at first and softens with washing, closer to old hotel percale than to silky sateen.
The queen set is a flat sheet, a 16 inch deep fitted sheet and two pillowcases. Skip it if you like a smooth, sleek sheet; this is a cool, matte, slightly textured one.
The catch. Stiff when new, and the low thread count puts off buyers who shop by the number.
